Item: This is a great vintage silver cigarette box lined in cedar wood. It still has the sweet smell of pipe tobacco inside but I can't detect the scent of cedar. The hallmarks indicate this was made in Amsterdam in 1961 and the purity of the silver is at least .833 (American sterling is .925). Weirdly, the bottom is made from a wood grained formica. There is a tiny little dent in the top but otherwise this is in very good condition. It would make a nice presentation box for a special gift but could be used as a mens jewelry / dresser box for cufflinks, tie clips and pocket change. The striping has a simple Art Deco look to it that will blend easily with any interior style.
