Item: This is an amazing hat made in the 1950s by John Frederics. The body of the hat is a light purple velveteen and it's embellished by velveteen and grosgrain ribbons around the crown which look a bit like strips of suede. The John Frederics label was a partnership between two of the most important hat designers of the 20th Century - Frederic Hirst and John Harberger better known as Mr. John. After the partnership was dissolved in the late 1940s Frederic Hirst continued the brand and even designed hat patterns for the Vogue pattern company. This is a great hat for a serous collector or for anyone needing a little splash of color to pull together a vintage outfit. It's in very good condition with the exception of some soiling around the inner band.
