Item: This is a hand carved mother of pearl brooch in the shape of a pointing hand. This motif was very popular in the late Victorian period and is almost symbolic of the era. The sleeve cuff is wrapped with two gold filled wires and the brooch is in very good condition. I opted not to clean this as the patina adds emphasis to the lines of the cuff and hand. It will easily clean up with mild soap and water should you choose to do so.
